Girly Baby Leg Warmers

Ok First of all, I have got to say that I LOVE Baby Leg Warmers!!!! And there is a chance my Daughter has WAY to many, I have no idea how many but anyone in their right mind would a agree that no one needs more than 10 pairs of leg warmers, and she has way more than that (although I think I can safely say she has less than 50 maybe even less than 35...) The first few I made using a tutorial kind of like this one (couldn't find the one I actually used )

And now here is how I make my Leg Warmers.
Find some supper cute knee highs, and if they happen to be on sale at Target for $0.62 all the better.

Then cut off the sock portion leaving only the straight part.

Then zigzag stitch the cut edge pulling slightly to create a lettuce edge, I like to go around twice.

See how cute the ruffle look is!!! (you may want to use the other tutorial if you are making them for Boys or gender neutral)

Then put them on your sweet princess and try to go a good picture!

What should you do with the parts you cutoff...
why have yourself a pair of socks that match your daughters leg warmers, of course!!!

Baby Step 7

Baby Step 7 We are going to add another step to our before bed routine, we are going to start picking out our clothes for the next day, and just lay down somewhere where they are ready for you the next day.

Baby Step 6

Baby Step 6 Hot spots

Whats a "Hot Spot" my dinning room table, coffee table, kitchen counter, craft table.... I have many hot spots, and today I am just going to spend 2 minutes and practice putting out my hot spot, all though I think it will take longer, but I am not going to stress out about it :)

Baby Step 5

I am very sorry to let you down, and not post for a few days. I just have been sick/busy/discouraged, I started feeling like whats the point? Why bother, you are just going to fail, you are never going to be free from C.H.A.O.S.! Well guess what, My sink is STILL shiny and my hair is done, and my shoes are tied!

Baby Step Number 5
I want you to write down all those negative voices in your head telling you that you can't do this (mine are almost always in hyperdirve) and turn them around! Say something nice to yourself, something encouraging. No longer are you going to allow those nagging negative voice dictate the way we feel about ourselves!! You ARE amazing!

Baby Step 4

Baby Step 4
 "So far we are;
- Getting Dressed to lace up shoes
- Keeping our sink shining
- Going to Big Tent and reading messages
Your next thing is to write these things down on a sticky note and post them on your bathroom mirror and above your kitchen sink. This is the beginning of your Control Journal. The little notes help us to remember the habits we are trying to establish."

If you feel like you are ready to start a more in depth Control Journal go here

Baby Step 3

Ok for baby step 3 all you have to do is just keep on doing what you are doing! Get up get dressed and keep that sink shiny, you can do this, slow steps are good. You ARE amazing!

Fly Lady has a website where you can join and get Daily Flight Plan, the essays and the testimonials, it is called Big Tent

Baby Steps 2

How are those sinks looking?? Doesn't it just make you smile?

Baby Steps 2 is a big struggle for me, in the morning, as soon as you wake up, get dressed!

And I don't mean comfy pants and a T-shirt, I mean something you would wear if a friend was coming by for a visit. That means fix your hair and face also, (I must confess I very rarely wear makeup out in public I am not going to get up every day and put it on to clean my house, after all I hate makeup) and shoes

WHAT SHOES???? Now I know you must think I am joking but I am not, you got a wear shoes (according to fly lady, and since I am committed to do all 30 baby steps no matter how silly...)

"I see this problem more in the SAHM (Stay At Home Moms) because often they don't have to leave the house and it is not necessary to get dressed every morning. Only their children are going to see them. I want you to listen very close. You have the most important job of all, raising productive adults. NOW, do you want your children to remember that Mom didn't get dressed until it was time for Dad to get home? Or do you want your children to have to answer the door because you are still in your gown tail and bathrobe? If you would look at your day just like the Payroll SHE and realize that the jobs around the house will take as long as you let it (all day in most cases because you allow it) and get off your "Franny" and get dressed all the way to shoes. Because it is time to go to work."

And don't forget to shine your sink before you go to bed!

If you missed Step 1

Shine your sink!

Our very first baby step is to shine our sinks!
“This is your first household chore. Many of you can't understand why I want you to empty your sink of your dirty dishes and clean and shine it, when there is so much more to do. It is so simple. I want you to have a sense of accomplishment. You have struggled for years with a cluttered home and you are so beaten down. I just want to put a smile on your face. When you get up the next morning, your sink will greet you and a smile will come across your lovely face. I can't be there to give you a big hug, but I know how good it feels to see yourself in your kitchen sink. So each morning this is my gift to you. Even though I can't be there to pat you on the back, I want you to know that I am very proud of you.
Go shine your sink! – FlyLady

Ok this maybe the silliest thing you very heard, but it is so true! I was like oh my goodness I have laundry to do and she wants me to shine my sink! But I did it and it is beautiful, and it makes me so happy to look at! It takes some time the first day but it is so worth it and all you have to do is keep it up.
So here we go Shiny Sink 101

Sundress!

Old skirt with holes (and that Husband hated!)
I folded it so I could follow the original curve of the seam.

Then I hemmed the top (I had left the bottom hem.) and sewed up the second side.

And then the fun part!!
I did about 10 rows of shirring, if you have never shirred before you don't know what you are missing,
you should try it and I recommended this tutorial. Give it a try you will LOVE IT!!
Shirred some straps! Then I attached them, that's it, so easy.

I  love the way it turned out, I want to make more now!

The tale of two sheets

I found these two sheet at a resale shop, I paid $3 for both of them, I wonder what I should do with them...

Dresses! Duh!

I used these instructions calculate the size, but I used this tutorial, to make the dresses.
then I just added a big bow! The tie is not attached so it can be wore with or without.

Sometimes kids make you cry!

Like today when I stayed up late and then worked all morning to make Zoe a beautiful cream colored dress. Oh, it turned out so nice, I was going to post a page about how I made it but...

I put it on her, got the camera out, batteries are dead, went to my desk to grab more batteries turned around and  to my HORROR!! Zoe decided to play in the ashes, so her amazing cream dress, is now grey, and she needs a bath. And I need a good old fashion cry!

"Manly" Apron

I have been feeling badly for poor Ryley, I hardly ever sew stuff for him (not that he notices or even cares!), so the other night I thought Ryley loves to help me cook in the kitchen (AKA lick the spoon!)
 He needs a apron!!
So I confiscated one of Andy's gross jeans...
How do you get a hole there anyhow???
Cut down the center of the pant leg.
Grab your victim to measure.
Cut out a apron shape.
Then I just made some bias tape, and used it to finish the edges,
and make ties and strap for around the neck
And that is all... (needs pockets though doesn't?)
Maybe I made it a little to wide, however I think it is funny that our
2 year old body can almost fit in one my my husbands paint legs!

Super cute Knit Dress

I found this T-Shirt like knit fabric with this fun design for $0.73

All I did was cut out the panels right along the edges
With right sides together I sewed along the black lines, zigzagged the rest.
made a long tie with some of the extra fabric and that was all.

Super cute simply dress for 73 cents and very little time.
(it took longer to cut out the panels then the sew the dress)

The only picture I got of the front of the dress with the ties.
(Please ignore the unpleasant display of my daughter sin nature!)

Weight Loss (maybe)

Then...

4 years and 2 kids later...
Hopefully soon this will no longer be a "Now"photo this will be my "before" photo!

Zoe's Valentines Outfit Part 3

Shoes!!

OK so I sorta made the shoes up as I went so, this may not be very helpful!

First I traced her foot
Then I cut out..
2 Soles (out of felt)
4 Toes
4 Heels
Then with Right sides together I sewed a quarter inch seem along
the straight part of both the Toes and the Heels, I also sewed along the short seam of the heel.
then I turned and pressed them.

I  folded down the top of the heel, and sewed in a piece of elastic, taking care to not sew ON the elastic
Matched up the center of the sole and the toe, sewed around the edge, as close as I could.

Then I did the same for the heel.
It's a inside out shoe!
Note: that I clipped a hole in one of the layers of fabric covering
the toes and ran the elastic through.
A little hand sewing!
I don't recommend this step, kinda gross.
then I made a little bow, put a little leftover binding around the center,
and attached it with hot glue to the shoe
I used some  hot glue, to make some traction on the bottom, so that Zoe doesn't slip.
And there goes Miss Attitude, looking so sassy in her new outfit.
